Cowdin

The diminutive Nieuport 11 “Bebe” was a very successful French fighter aircraft in 1916. Here, American Elliot Cowdin, a volunteer with the French Air Service who flew with this Nieuport with Escadrille N.65 during the battle of Verdun in 1916. Cowdin later was a funding member of the famous Lafayette Escadrille.
