Don't Blink
(24" x 30” Oil on Canvas - 1996)
Summer 1918. A German Albatros squares off with an American Nieuport 28 above France. Unlike most paintings I do this one is purely imaginary in historical context. While it’s a certainty that the American Nieuports tusseled with German Albatroses in the summer of 1918, this scene is purely a speculation.
The painting was simply an exercise in making the beautiful Albatros looks as good as possible from a seldom seen aspect.
